Of course. I have bought knockoff products before because the real thing was too expensive. The key though is knowing if it is a fake or not. We try to educate people so they know what to look for and so they don’t pay full price for a knock-off. If you prefer to buy a fake though, there is no problem with that.

Yeah, you’re right. I think the problem will only get worse until the government gets involved. Even then, it will be hard to stop counterfeiters.

There are so many salon products being sold at Rite Aide and CVS stores. I first caught on to the fakes when I walked into a CVS to buy some toiletries. I passed the hair products isle and noticed that the shampoo I use (Sleek Look by Matrix) was being sold there. I was so excited that I didn’t have to drive to the salon anymore, so I grabbed a bottle + conditioner. The next morning I went to wash my hair and the first thing I noticed was the smell…it did not smell at all like Sleek Look. I still had the empty bottle so I compared it to the cvs bottle. Unless you really pay attention you wouldn’t notice that they’re different. The back of the bottle does not say the same thing as the real one. Even the ingredients were different. I told some of my friends to stay away from salon products being sold at drugstores…unfortunately they don’t believe..they actually thought it was funny when I said they are fake..oh well. When their hair falls out from using fake Chi, Sebastion, Matrix etc, i’ll be the one laughing. Seriously though, I wish something could be done about this!

You really have to make sure that you read the reviews from whatever seller that you buy from. If the seller does not have any reviews yet, then DO NOT buy from them. Also remember that fakes are not just sold online. Just because a store sells Chi products does not always mean that they are authentic. This is the reason why I prefer to buy these kinds of products online because I am able to read other customers reviews before I buy. Thanks for the info.

I called Farouk directly to inquire about the power cord.. I was told the older models, such as mine (I have the original, black) may have 2 prongs.. the 3 prong cord is a “myth” she said. So, it may just depend on the age of the flat iron.
